The present work was undertaken to study the body growth of 160 Barbari goats from birth to 12 months of age, and the influence of nongenetic factors like sex, birth type, year and season of birth on different growth traits. The goats were born during the period from October 1985 to September 1989. During pre-weaning period, kids suckled their mother and were allowed to nibble green fodder. Creep mixture was given to these kids from 1 month onward. After weaning, young goats were offered green fodder (ad lib.) along with concentrate mixture @ 200 to 400 g/day a goat. Body weight and linear body measurements, viz.length, withers heightand heat girth, were recorded at bitth and 3, 6, 9 and 12 months of age. Weight gain achieved during birth to 3 months and 3 to 6, 6 to 9 and 9 to 12 months were calculatet by subtracting the initial weight from the final weight of any panicular period.
